Will U2’s New Album improve their legacy? I hope so.

U2 (Rolling Stone Magazine)

I’ve always admired U2 for the band’s staying power and innovation.  You may remember the Zoo TV and Pop Mart tours, Bono’s phone call and message to the original President George Bush, the Apple commercials, the recent performance at President Barack Obama’s inauguration and so many more great memories!

Its no secret that the band has touched on politics and spirituality over the years, and with The Edge’s trademark sound and Bono’s charisma and powerful lyrics, they’ve done so in a very moving ways.  The band has remained relevant longer than most and I’m really hoping that their latest album, No Line on the Horizon will further bolster their legacy as icons of music with meaning.  No Line on the Horizon comes out in the US on March 3, 2009 and the band is allowing pre-orders online (at 36% off – U2 Store at Amazon.com) in 5 different formats ranging from a standard CD to a fully-loaded box set.

The latest single, “Get On Your Boots,” which received comparisons to Vertigo from Rolling Stone Magazine, was a bit of a surprise to me, mainly b/c I didn’t like it until watching the video and their live version of the song during the 2009 Grammy Awards:

What’s your take on the first single?  How about the rest of the album?
