New Indie Artists Plan for Live show CD reporting to Soundscan

Quick update on IndieHitMaker.com. We launched a brand new “Pay Per Report” pricing plan for independent touring artists that allows them to sign up for Venue Sales Reporting (live show CD Sales reporting) to Soundscan for only $33 a year and $5 per report. Its great for artist with only a few shows lined up each month but they want to ensure they are reporting their sales.

Of course, for busier artists, we still have the monthly and annual plans (greatest overall savings).

What do Haley Williams, Keith Urban, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and John Stringer all have in common?

Question: What do Haley Williams, Keith Urban, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and John Stringer all have in common?

The Answer: We all have the same vocal coach Singing Success!

But hopefully, I pay a lot less than they do!

This video of Haley Williams (Paramore) tells you about her experience with the program:

I really like Haley Williams’ voice and if you caught the episode of Sophie’s Lounge on Sophie 103’s website (HERE) featuring State of Man’s live acoustic performance and interview, then you probably heard me doing one of the vocal warm up techniques she uses.

Though the techniques sound funny, they are the same ones not only Haley and I use, but plenty of other artists including Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and Miley Cyrus use them as well. thanks to the critically acclaimed vocal methods found in the  Singing Success program by Brett Manning.   The program costs $199 and it is well worth it.

I posted a review on the  Singing Success program before (here) but wanted to make sure anyone serious about becoming a great singer checks it out.  The before and after videos on the site will amaze you, and once you actually use it, you’ll understand exactly why the program is called Singing Success!

Enjoy!

Have you read ‘The Sacred Yes: Letters From The Infinite’ by Deborah L. Johnson?

The Sacred Yes: Letters From The Infinite

The Sacred Yes: Letters From The Infinite

I finished reading Spiritual Liberation: Fulfilling Your Soul’s Potential by Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith and it was such an enjoyable read that I still use the powerful affirmations and embodiments presented.  Now, I’m back to reading a book I actually started before Dr. Beckwith’s which also happens to be written by someone he mentors.  The book is called The Sacred Yes: Letters From The Infinite by Rev. Deborah L. Johnson.

The Sacred Yes is a fascinating read and offers insightful perspective on God/Source from various angles.  Its somewhat similar to Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch in that the author explains the content was “channeled.”  For this, I refer to a great phrase my uncle once told me – TRUTH IS WHERE YOU FIND IT – and I’ve found plenty of it in this book thus far.

I’m currently on the 11th chapter, entitled DIVINE FLOW, and I think you’ll appreciate this analogy on giving:

“In addition to making a seperation between the giver and the recipient, there is also a tendency in your Westernixed cultures to make a seperatin between the acts of givin and receiving. This is a false disctinction.  This is a pradigm that is of no use or value in the spiritual realm.  It is a fallacious conceptualization that only continues to perpetuate the paradigm of duality. Ther is otherness reeking in this. Why do I say so adamantly that this is fallacious?

Perhaps the best example would be that of breathing.  Within the  process of breathing there is what you refer to as inhaling and there is what you refer to as exhaling.  However, you are not breathing unless you are doing both. It would never occur to you to try to make such a distinction between exhaling and inhaling when speaking of breathing such that you would claim to be doing one without the other.  There is totality here. There is a wholeness here. There is an integration here. You are not breathing unless both are happening alternately and interchangeably. So it is with what you refer to as giving.  In fact, it is even more so.  In the act of breathing you can mark the point in time when you are either inhaling or exhaling, even though they occur very closely together.  However, in what is referred to as giving, the so-called giving and receiving are simultaneous. They aren’t even separate. It is all one.”

Feel free to share your thoughts on this book if you’re reading it or have read it in the past.

Top 3 Ways Independent Artists can Report (CD and Digital, including venue / live show) Sales to SoundScan

Billboard Charts

Report sales to Soundscan to get on the Billboard Charts

Have you heard that the music industry has been in a constant decline or recession over the last few years?  Technically, that’s not true.

Did you know that although 2008 music industry album sales fell 14% based on Neilsen  SoundScan numbers, the music industry actually saw overall growth for the third consecutive year?  That’s true.  As a Dec. 31, 2008 Reuters article reported:

“Overall music sales, including albums, singles, music video and digital tracks, rose 10.5 percent to 1.5 billion units {in 2008}, after 14 percent growth in 2007 and a 19 percent jump in 2006.”

What’s also true is that more and more Independent artists are contributing to these SoundScan numbers and the best are reaping tremendous benefits:

  • Establishing a Nielsen SoundScan digital and physical CD sales history
  • Inclusion in the Billboard Magazine charts tally which can lead to national recognition
  • Proof of Sales for potential deals (label, distribution, management, legal, sponsorships, endorsement, etc.)

The question we answer in your FREE report is how you, an independent artist,  can report ALL of your sales (including venue / live show sales) to Soundscan as an independent artist.  Pick up a copy HERE.

Have you read “Spiritual Liberation?” by Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith

Spiritual Liberation

I thoroughly enjoy reading books on self-development and have been blessed to find many that have assisted in my spiritual journey.  One such book is Dr. Micheal Bernard Beckwith’s latest offering, “Spiritual Liberation: Fulfilling Your Soul’s Potential.”    I just started reading it recently, and although I’m only on the 7th chapter, it is so good, I decided to join the Amazon associate program today (which allows me to recommend this and all my other favorite books)!

For context, you may remember Dr. Beckwith from “The Secret.”  My wife and I met Dr. Beckwith on 2/11/07 while visiting his LA based Agape International Spiritual Center.   We were extremely moved durring our visit and came back searching for a similar environment here in Atlanta, GA (we were fortunate to find the sister church only 15 minutes from our home).

I’ve been equally moved by “Spiritual Liberation” b/c it is simply powerful.  I read a chapter each day along with the affirmations and embodiments at the end.  Once I’m finished, I feel much like I do after an incredible meditation.

The forward, by Marianne Williamson, describes the book perfectly:

“Michael Bernard Beckwith, through his ever-deepining understanding of God and human existence, has already cast a wide net of influence.  With this book, the many lessons he has learned, the information he has acuumulated, and the insights that have illumined his mind will now illumine yours”.

Have you read the book already or are you reading it now?  What are  your thoughts on it?
